While PC makers started taking orders for new PCs with Windows XP installed a few weeks prior to October 25, 2001, this was the day that consumers were able to walk into a store and buy a copy of the OS in order to update their current PCs to the new version of Windows.ġ0 years later, Windows XP is still used on a ton of PCs around the world. Today Microsoft's Windows XP operating system officially turns 10 years old.
